North American Rails - Railfan Guides
Purchasing a North American Rails eBook
I have written and released the first three volumes to the North American Rails series of railfan guides dedicated to helping the railfan locate and safely enjoy the various photo locations around North America. In each volume I will discuss and demonstrate the photographic possibilities in the region featured in that perticular eBook. Formatted as a readable only PDF file on a disc, all you have to do is load it into your computer, (must have an Adobe Reader), and enjoy it as a book on your computer.
In each volume I further explain the best time of day for each photo location and what season would yield the better sun angle so you can research the area before you arrive. Using one of my North American Rails guides, you will not waste any more time looking for a perticular photo location or be at a location at the wrong time of the day.
My first eBook in the North American Rails series was released in September of 2012 and is titled "Volume 1-The BNSF Seligamn Subdivision Across Arizona". Volume 1 covers the tracks across northern Arizona on the BNSF "Transcon" between Needles, CA and Winslow, AZ. Locations discussed are the towns of Needles, CA along with Kingman, Seligman, Williams, Flagstaff, and Winslow, AZ. Other photographic railroad areas mentioned in detail are Kingman Canyon, Crozier Canyon, The Crookton Cutoff and The Canyon Diablo Bridge. In it's 182 pages you will find over 196 photos and 21 diagrams along with more than 44,000 words in easy to understand text explaining where to go to get that special picture.
The second volume released also in September of 2013 is titled Cajon Pass and within its 243 pages are over 56,500 words of text with over 300 photos and 20 diagrams. Again, this detailed information explains almost all of the photographic possibilities throughout Cajon Pass from the City of San Bernardino, CA to Barstow, CA. Within its 9 chapters are detailed information about San Bernardino, Devore, Blue Cut, Cajon Station, Sullivans Curve, Steins Hill, what I call the "Bowl", Silverwood, The Summit, Hesperia and Victorville, CA, and finally Barstow, CA. Many other locations are explained in detail within the "Bowl" including, Alray, the former locations of tunnels 1 and 2, the railfan location called "Hill 582", the area around the Silverwood cross over including the "Knoll" and Big Fill, and concluding with Big Cut. More locations on the east side of Cajon Pass are Martinez siding, Lugo, Frost, the Railroad Bridges in Victorville, Helendale, Barstow Yard and Daggett.
Tehachapi Pass is the title of my third book in the North American Rails series and was released again in September of 2014. At 208 pages in length, the information within those pages is over 234 pictures, 16 diagrams and almost 53,000 words of text covering the railroad area between Bakersfield, CA and Mojave, CA. More photographic locations are explained in its 9 chapters including Mojave, CA, the Cameron Area, the town of Tehachapi, CA, the "Loop", Woodford, Bealville, Caliente, Sandcut and ending with Bakersfield, CA. Other areas discussed are Warren, Cable Siding, safe locations around the "Loop", tunnels 3, 4 and 5. and other great photolocations near tunnels 1 and 2.
Remember that I hope to continue this as an annual release. Subsequent eBooks will continue to be released in September every year and future volumes will be on the locations of Kansas City, the Overland Route across Nebraska, the Powder River Basin, Chicago, the Northeast Corridor, the Montana Rail Link, the Tracks between Oregon and Washington next to the Columbia River, many places in Canada and more.
To view an example of a perticular eBook, let me know which one you would like to have an example of and I will send you an attachment to an email to you with one of the chapters of a designated book. For volume 1 the Seligman Subdivision, I will send chapter 2 on Kingman Canyon. As an example of volume 2 Cajon Pass, request chapter 4 covering Sullivans Curve, and for volume 3 the Tehachapi Pass, chapter 7 the Caliente Area is available as an example of that eBook.
These examples of the actual chapters from each of the eBooks are complimentary. With the "templates" that I have to use for this website, I have no way of including an example of any of the eBooks except this way. Again, there is no charge for a request to view any of the selected chapters of my eBooks. Just send me an email with your request, and I will reply as soon as I can and send you an attachment of the actual chapter.
These chapters are available because these are the chapters that I will be featuring in the near future at various trade shows and railroad conventions. I plan on attending various shows to demonstrate my eBooks at those shows hopfully begining next year as my personal time allows.
