Cabooses were an important part of railroading all throughout its history up to the late 80's when the railroads "retired" them. As I was learning more about railroading in my early years, I paid much more attention to the front of the trains rather than the rear. I was more interested in the engines than anything else so I didn't get many of the photos that I could have in that time period.
The photos that I did get were again all on film so they had to be scanned to get onto this website, and were photographed by a novice photographer and with his inexpensive camera so please again don't be to critical. I just wanted to include these photos of equipment that is no more.
Most of the photos are of cabooses working at the rear of a train, but some are of cabooses after they were retired and are now on display somewhere. I tried to include a large range of caboose styles and from as many different railroads as I could.
Because the cabooses are pretty much self explanitory, I did not write a caption for all of the photos. Please enjoy this site page, and please forgive some of the photos if the photo quality is not perfect.
